Developed From Customer Needs
The technologies that power all of YFS solutions have been derived from our customers' operational requirements.
Through the use of location independence and a single namespace, users and services enjoy reliable access even during maintenance operations. YFS file servers handle all the mapping of where the file is actually stored behind the scenes. To the user the location never changes even when the file is moved to a new server or geographic location. This allows IT departments to reduce the need for disruptive planned outages.
Integrated into the base design, YFS network storage protocols include secure authentication and encryption services. An improved security model provides for superior access control and group management. Identity management can be integrated with common solutions such as Active Directory. Optional crypto modules reduce the operational load of encryption services on YFS storage appliances.
Whether your computing infrastructure leverages Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris or other UNIX, YFS provides native client support, enabling flexibility in your technology growth choices. Mobile devices can access files through native or web based interfaces.
By providing a native file interface, users can access and manage their cloud based files using the tools they’re already familiar with, reducing the need for user training. Familiar individual workflows based around Office documents or Adobe artwork files can be maintained, easing adoption.
Publishing large sets of information is simplified with atomic publishing capabilities. Once all the information is ready in a private read/write storage workspace, a read-only snapshot can be created. This snapshot can be then efficiently replicated globally.
As YFS technology is designed to be used securely over the open Internet, your users can safely access their files without the need for additional costly VPN solutions. By making access to the storage cloud a seamlessly integrated experience, whether in the office or on the road, the risk exposure from the loss of local files is greatly reduced.
Your File System’s authentication infrastructure supports federated identity models. This enables the creation of hybrid clouds, permitting easy collaboration between different organizations, including those entirely external.
The powerful namespace administration features of Your File System storage technology ease the burden on central administrators. Businesses can delegate aspects of YFS administration to different business groups. For example, responsibility for a subset of the namespace can be delegated to an independent business unit. Finer grained administrative functions can be provided to non-administrators based on organization role for more effective local project management. Finally, administrative functionality is entirely scriptable, enabling organizations to tailor and automate many routine global functions such as distribution, replication and restoration.
